SBU Worldwide Campus

Complete the application to SBU. The online application is free, but be sure to have access to your ACT/SAT test scores and be prepared to enter information related to your high school transcript. If you are applying to a graduate program, you’ll need access to your undergraduate transcript. For more information, contact the school where you received your undergraduate degree about receiving an official transcript.

Online courses are delivered through Canvas. Assignments, lessons, coursework, discussion forums, exams, and more are delivered through the Canvas system. Some important technical requirements include:

• Reliable Internet. You will need a reliable Internet connection of 1.5 Mbps or higher to do coursework.
• Microsoft Office. You will need Microsoft Office 2003 or newer software.
• Adobe Acrobat Reader. You will need Adobe Reader or another reading program to view PDF documents.

Federal grants and loans may be available for Online Learning or Online Independent Study through the SBU Office of Financial Aid. You must meet certain criteria and must be a degree-seeking student accepted and enrolled in an SBU program leading to an associate, bachelor, graduate, or professional degree to be potentially eligible for federal financial aid. Students taking regular classroom courses along with some online study fit the criteria of degree-seeking students through SBU. You will need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); please refer to the financial aid website to learn more information.

Textbooks and other educational materials are covered by the $25 per credit hour course educational materials fee and provided to the student automatically within the course.

Higher education institutions delivering courses by distance education are required to provide the contact information for official entities or agencies within each state designed to handle complaint resolution. States are required by the U.S. Department of Education (34 CFR 668.43(b)) to have a complaint process available to any enrolled or prospective student.

Southwest Baptist University students enrolled in online and distance courses, as well as on-campus courses, should attempt to resolve complaints by following the procedures for Formal Complaints and Grievances in the SBU Student Handbook. If you wish to file a complaint about the University with its regional accreditor regarding issues of institutional quality, you may do so by following the instructions on the Higher Learning Commission website.
